HOOD RIVER — The Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation District announced this week that it will work with the Hood River County School District to open an additional public ballfield this spring.

The field, which has not been maintained since 2009, is located at Wy’east Middle School. The parks district has plans to grade the infield, purchase a portable pitcher’s mound, and install a temporary outfield fence. The field already has functional dugouts, bleachers, and a backstop. The school district has agreed to maintain the field once it is refurbished.
