THE GORGE — GORGEous Music Events, a new local organization, is launching two concerts this October under the direction of David Kelly, director and pianist.
GORGEous Music Events is offering two concerts on Oct. 19, 7 p.m. at Hood River Valley Christian Church and Oct. 20, 3 p.m. in White Salmon at United Methodist Church.
“Please mark your calendars for these concerts on both sides of the Columbia River for great classical and various other styles of music from talented local singers and instrumentalists,” said a press release.
Featured will be Rebecca Gooch, vocalist from The Dalles, Jo Herring from Hood River and Alesandra Montgomery, an 11-year-old vocalist from the Portland area whose father grew up in Underwood. Kelly will offer piano solos and accompaniment. Also presenting is John Stipan, a vocalist and guitarist from Cascade Locks.
Kelly retired in White Salmon and is currently volunteer director of the more than 35-year-old Mid-Columbia Community Choir, and playing piano at four churches in Hood River, White Salmon and Stevenson. Kelly has 55 years of professional experience in music, and as an educator on college, high school and private levels.
He’s also served as church director of music at a number of Portland and Tuckson churches.
