(The Center Square) — The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 7-2 decision Wednesday, temporarily prevented the Trump administration from challenging a policy that allows federal taxpayer dollars to support prisoners' gender transitions.

The majority justices on the high court did not block an order in Trump v. Kingdom, a case challenging the federal Bureau of Prisons policy to allow prisoners access to transgender operations. Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas said they would not have blocked the lower court's order.
