(The Center Square) - The U.S. Department of Energy over the weekend authorized an emergency exchange of 4 million barrels of crude oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to address supply disruptions in the Gulf of America caused by Hurricane Isaias.

ExxonMobil and BP America will each receive up to 2 million barrels of crude oil, which the companies will return to the nation’s strategic reserve in 2027, the Energy Department announced Saturday.
