Columbia Gorge News just completed our little libraries contest with two winners: Danny Jacobsen of The Dalles and Dawn Beauchamp of Wishram.
“The newspaper loves to encourage young readers and giving new purpose to some old newsstands seems a great opportunity,” said Publisher Chelsea Marr.
Beauchamp has gone further with her library by registering it with www.littlefreelibrary.org. Each registered library has unique charter number. The library is registered and located on a map for community members to find all over the world. The 501c3 organization just celebrated their 200,000th little library this March. You can find the Wishram little library or others registered in your community if they have been registered.

The contest was sponsored by Columbia Gorge News with support from Waucoma Bookstore in Hood River. Each winner received a collection of donated books and a gift certificate to add to their libraries.
If you have a little library in our Gorge community, please share it with Columbia Gorge News. The newspaper will be sharing these creative libraries over the upcoming months.
Email a photo to info@gorgenews.com, along with the location for the library.
