THE DALLES — Tara Koch, former Haven from Domestic Violence executive director, pleaded guilty to eight felonies stemming from theft of more than $96,000 from Haven in Wasco County Circuit Court Oct. 10.
The plea came just days before a jury trial was set to begin on Oct. 15. A sentencing date will be set at a Dec. 4 hearing.
Koch was charged under secret indictment in mid-2022 on 26 charges, including first and second degree theft, first degree aggravated theft, identity theft and forgery. All but two of the charges were felonies.
She pleaded guilty to five counts of aggravated first degree theft (theft of an amount over $10,000) and three counts of first degree theft (theft of an amount over $1,000). The aggravated theft charges are Class B felonies and the theft charges are Class C felonies.
Haven is a nonprofit organization serving survivors of sexual and domestic violence in Wasco, Sherman and Gilliam counties.
