MASON Leavitt, Emily Mitchell, Sarah Wang, Soren Rajani, and Ruby Patterson attended the Singletary Invitational Tournament last weekend at Linfield. Rajani was awarded a $1,000 Linfield scholarship.
Submitted photoHood River Valley High School Speech Team members traveled to Linfield College in McMinnville last weekend for the Singletary Invitational Tournament.
Soren Rajani, a senior, won first place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Linfield. He also competed in Impromptu Speaking.
Hood River sent a small contingent of advanced Speech and Debate competitors to Linfield, including junior Emily Mitchell in Parliamentary Debate and Impromptu Speaking and junior Sarah Wang in Expository Speaking and Impromptu Speaking.
Senior Ruby Patterson won third place in Expository Speaking and competed in Radio Commentary. Mason Leavitt, a senior, took fourth place in Extemporaneous Speaking and also competed in Prose Reading and Parliamentary Debate.
