HRVHS Debate team competes

HOOD RIVER — The Hood River Valley High (HRVHS) Speech and Debate Team has started their season. They competed at their first tournament on October 18 at the Douglas McKay High School Tournament. Twenty-eight schools from around Oregon attended this competition. HRVHS took 22 students, including six novices. “The team had a strong showing, learned a lot, met new friends, and returned home energized,” said Ann McDonald, the team coach. Emily Fry, a freshman, got first place in Novice Prose Reading, and Sadie Henry, a senior, was a finalist in After Dinner Speaking.
