Last week’s ‘Mystery,’ which nobody identified, was taken in the Hood River area in about 1912 by Ella May Davidson. These two men are spraying chemicals from a horse-drawn machine onto a blooming orchard. At the time, steam-powered chemical sprayers were a rather new invention. They look very proud of it, don’t they? How about this image, above? It’s taken from an old edition of The Dalles Chronicle.
