BINGEN — Zepher Flight Labs held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, Aug. 7, to mark the opening of its new facility in downtown Bingen. The event marked the company's formal transition into its new role under the companyHeven,a drone technology company focused on hydrogen-powered unmanned aerial vehicles.

The new location is intended to serve as a center for drone development,productionand integration. Zepher Flight Labs (ZFL) is now part of Heven’s expanding U.S. operations, and the facility is expected to support job growth and contribute to the local technology sector.
“This is just the beginning,” said Adam Stolz, CEO of ZFL. “Just in March, we became a part of the Heven family.”

Stolz noted the company’s growth over time and its origins in the Gorge.
“Zepher Labs started as a little more than three people and a couple desks shoved into the corner of a warehouse… a lot has changed since then,” he said. “It’s the magic of theGorge,it is what is possible here with a bunch of dreamers and doers.”
According to Heven’s website, hydrogen fuel cell-powered drones offer longer flight durations than battery-powered models,operatequietly, and produce no carbon emissions. The company lists potential uses for its technology in surveillance, environmentalmonitoringand urban applications.

Bentzion Levison, CEO and founder of Heven, also spoke at the event.
“We are living through historic times,” Levison said, noting the impact of drones in recent conflicts between Russia and Ukraine. “About 80% of the casualties on the Russian side happened from drones.” He said,“Tothink that nearly 80% of the casualties came from a new asset class is mind-boggling.”

Levison added, “Us being the leading nation in the world will continue to happen if we have the strongest economy and the strongest army. What we are doing here is focusing on what we believe is the solution of the future.”
ZFL, originally based in the Gorge, has focused on unmanned aerial systems for several years. The new facilityrepresentsboth a continuation of its engineering work and a shift in operations as part of Heven’s larger portfolio.
