THE GORGE — The Fighting Fires Together, a campaign by the Weyerhaeuser Company and the Firefighter Behavioral Health Alliance, works to provide wildland firefighters in the Pacific Northwest with specialized mental health resources.

According to a press release, Fighting Fires Together “addresses the often-overlooked mental health impacts of wildland firefighting in isolated, hazardous and highly stressful conditions.” First responders can access a free online resource hub to find specially designed materials like videos, mental health tips and educational articles on topics such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety and suicide prevention. They can also find contacts for occupationally aware support groups and counselors in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.
