The Festival of Trees, hosted by the Mid-Columbia Health Foundation, will take place at The Dalles Civic Auditorium on Friday, December 1, 2023, where decorated Christmas trees will be auctioned off to the highest bidder for charity.
“We started preparing for Festival of Trees back in July,” Health Foundation Executive Director Amanda Evans said. “Some of our seasoned tree decorators have already started working on their trees, but we have room for a few more entries.”
The Health Foundation is also seeking items for the silent auction, specifically asking for decorated wreaths, gift certificates from local businesses and one-of-a-kind gift ideas.
The fun starts on Wednesday, Nov. 29 when decorators get together at the Civic and prepare their trees for auction.
“This day is full of excitement as families, businesses, civic groups and even groups of friends come out and decorate trees for the auction,” Evans said.
The main event takes place Friday evening with the gala at 6 p.m., and live auction at 7 p.m., Evans said. It is a 21+ event.
“Friday night is for the grown-ups, it’s a chance to dress up and go out on the town,” he said.
All ages are welcome to the Community Open House the following morning from 9 a.m. to noon, where guests of all ages can vote on the People’s Choice Award.
“We want the entire community to have a chance to see what our tree decorators have worked so hard to create,” Evans said.
The unofficial kickoff to the holiday season, the Health Foundation acknowledges and thanks their sponsors, without whom this event could not happen: First Interstate Bank, Human Investing, Columbia Gorge Toyota & Honda, Domino’s Pizza and Dean Dollarhide – State Farm Insurance.
Auction tickets are $20 per person. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time online or at the door the night of the event. Proceeds from the 2023 Festival will support the Celilo Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund, technology and equipment upgrades for our local medical system, and the continued mission of the Mid-Columbia Health Foundation.
