THE GORGE — In the coming weeks, farmers’ markets in The Dalles, White Salmon, and Hood River open for business with a variety of artisans, farmers, and producers.
The Dalles Farmers Market opens Saturdays, June through October at City Park, 707 Union Street, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendor applications and rules, weekly vendor maps and a “fresh sheet” of planned offerings are available at www.thedallesfarmersmarket.com/#.
Hood River Farmers Market opens on Saturdays, May 4 through Nov. 23 at 501 Columbia St., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Another market day is set for Tuesday, June 4. SNAP EBT from any state are accepted, and up to an extra $40 provided to customers using SNAP to purchase items like fresh produce, meet, eggs, cheese, bread, seeds and vegetable starts.
White Salmon Farmers Market opens every Tuesday, June through September at 282 N. Main Avenue, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. SNAP EBT are accepted, and an extra $25 provided to customers using SNAP to purchase fresh produce.
Mercado del Valle Farmers Market opens June 27, July 11 and 25, Aug. 8 and 22, and Sept. 5 at Atkinson Drive, downtown Odell, from 5-7 p.m.
Some markets also maintain community tables where vendors can sell quantities of goods too small to justify a full booth. The fee in White Salmon is 10% of total sales.
