Elections 2024: Hood River, Wasco counties come up on May 21 primary

Brain Beebe, director, department of records and assessment for Hood River County, reported May 9 (updates not available at press time) that voter turnout was 8.71% with 1,444 ballots received.

“In May 2022, turnout was 6.94% with 1,107 ballots received,” he said. “In May 2020, turnout was 12.86% with 1,935 ballots received.”

Beebe said the records and assessment office is available to answer voter questions at 541-386-1442.

Chrissy Zaugg, chief deputy Wasco County clerk, reported May 10 (updates not available at press time) that voter turnout was 9.34%, with 1,745 ballots received. "In May 2022, turnout was 8.86% with 1617 ballots received; in May 2020, turnout was 14.01% with 2460 ballots received," she said.

Lisa Gambee, Wasco County clerk, said in a press release that voters who have not received their ballot yet can call the office to check registration. “We also have a Replacement Ballot Request form available on the Wasco County Current Election page of our website, www.co.wasco.or.us/departments/clerk/current_election_may_2024_primary.php,” she said.

Note: Wasco County Sheriff, County Clerk and County Treasurer are not on the Primary ballot. These offices are elected in November.
