Joanna Holmes drops off her ballot Monday at the Hood River County Administration building, Sixth and State, one of two official drop-off points for May 17 Primary ballots. The other is at Cascade Locks City Hall, though voters may drop off their ballots at any official location in the state. Elections supervisor Kim Kean said voters should avoid handing their ballots to anyone, and encouraged voters to deliver their ballots only to official locations. Ballots must be turned in by hand by 8 p.m. May 17 – postmarks do not count. Also, remember to sign your ballot envelope. As of Tuesday morning, voter turnout was at 52 percent – about 6,500 ballots. For election results, see the May 21 edition, and online at www.co.hood-river.or.us.
