Oregon’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose by 0.3 percentage point in August to 7.2 percent according to the Oregon Employment Department. Compared with August 2013, Oregon’s unemployment rate fell by 0.5 percentage point over the year.

Hood River County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was basically unchanged in August, falling by 0.1 percentage point to 5.1 percent. Hood River County’s rate in August ranks as Oregon’s lowest, just ahead of Benton County’s 5.5 percent. Compared with August 2013, Hood River County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell by 0.8 percentage point.
