Photo courtesy Garry EstepTHE DALLES — The Dalles organist Garry Estep will play a Christmas music concert Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 10th and Union streets, to raise funds for a local family in need during the holiday. All are invited.
Estep will play Christmas music on the Phelps-d’Autremont organ. He started this event last year right before Christmas Eve day and was able to raise $250, which was given to a family who had lost their father/husband.
The program begins with Estep playing standard organ fare such as “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “Ave Maria,” “Christmas Time is Here,” and other favorites. Then he switches gears and has audience members choose favorite Christmas Carols (from the Hymnal) for a sing-along. Lastly, he plays Christmas standards such as “Have Your Self a Merry Little Christmas,” “The Christmas Song,” and “Jingle Bells.”
