Cascade Locks readies for further bridge centennial events

CASCADE LOCKS — James Ross Bright, Secretary of the Main Street Cascade Locks group, approached city council during the Sept. 14 meeting to ask for a proclamation of October 2026 as Bridge of the Gods month.
The month-long celebration includes an exhibit center, shared staffing of the downtown visitors’ center, historic films of the bridge, participation events at nearly every downtown business, and lots of surprise fun activities — and be sure to watch for trolls.
Thursday afternoon, Oct. 1, will be the official launch of the festivities with a presentation at The Bridge of the Gods with the unveiling of the replica of the 1926 sign. The event will feature a brief ceremonial walk to the center of the bridge with a 2:45 p.m. start. The Bridge of the Gods will be closed to vehicles 2:45-3:15 p.m.
