THE DALLES — The City of The Dalles provided an update on its downtown tree project, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the beauty and environmental health of the downtown area, on June 20. Under a contract agreement with The Davey Tree Expert Company (Davey), the city has been diligently monitoring and supporting the newly planted trees to ensure their successful establishment and growth. Despite some initial challenges, proactive steps are being taken to address any issues and ensure the long-term health of our downtown trees.

City staff and Davey have been closely tracking the health and progress of the trees, recognizing that many are struggling to adapt to their new environment. In response, Davey have adjusted their maintenance plans, increased watering and feeding efforts at no additional cost to the city.
