THE DALLES — The Dalles High Riverhawks have clinched a spot in the Class 4A, 16-team state playoffs and they’ll play a first-round game Nov. 2.
The No. 6-ranked Riverhawks (8-1 TVC, 15-6 overall) extended their Tri-Valley Conference win streak to three last week. The Riverhawks won 3-0 over the Gladstone High Gladiators (0-9 TVC, 1-15 overall) on Oct. 14 at Gladstone. It marked their sixth straight, three-set victory over Gladstone over the past three years.
The Riverhawks followed with a 3-2 road win over the No. 12-ranked Estacada High Rangers (5-4 TVC, 14-10 overall) on Oct. 17. The Riverhawks played in a tournament Oct. 19 at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay, and they lost 2-0 to the Class 5A No. 4-ranked Churchill High Lancers (14-4).
The Riverhawks were schedule to play their final league contest Oct. 22 at home versus the Molalla High Indians (2-7 TVC, 4-12 overall). The Riverhawks are tied for first place in the six-team TVC standings with the No. 3-ranked Crook County High Cowgirls (8-1 TVC, 21-6 overall). The Riverhawks conclude the regular season with a nonleague road matchup at 3 p.m. Saturday versus the Astoria High Fishermen (9-6).
