Bruins close out pre-league volleyball slate on Thursday

The Bruins (2-1) defeated Riverside of Boardman (OR.) in straight sets on Sept. 14, in a bounce-back match following a road loss at Elma two days prior. The Elma match result was disappointing for the Bruins, who squandered a two-set lead against the Eagles.

Columbia played solid away from home in building a 2-0 lead (25-17, 25-18). But host Elma wouldn’t be denied, winning the third set 25-16 and the fourth, 26-24. Elma, led by senior Torrey Thompson, won the tiebreaking set, 15-13.

Columbia was scheduled to play Riverside in White Salmon on Sept. 20 and hosts Tenino on Thursday. Those two matches, and the Trico contest at Castle Rock next week, begin at 7 p.m.
