THE GORGE — The temperatures are heating up and the times are coming down for the Gorge small school track and field athletes heading into the final month of the 2025 season.
Trout Lake hosted a 17-team invitational meet on April 26 which included many of the District 3’s teams, including the host Mustangs who won five events. Four of those wins came on the girls side where senior Violette Anderson won the 100-meter hurdles in a personal best 17.27 seconds and the shot put in a season best 34-foot, 0.5-inch effort.
Teammate Melody Stock ran a PR 800 of 2:26.44 against a steady headwind on the backstretch. Jayden Kusky won the shot put at 47-2.5. Trout Lake also won the girls 4x400 relay as Cora Sharp, Stock, Riley Rickman and Jade Mclean raced to a 4:28.71 clocking.
Also of note for Trout Lake was Mclean’s 9-6 pole vault mark and the 39-11.5 triple jump of Gael Fuentes.
