Riverhawk girls win third straight TVC game, Newby reaches 1,000 points

Newby’s sister Bryce, a freshman, Morgan Donivan and Hailey Johnston each had eight points. The Riverhawks followed with a 52-27 road win Jan. 30 over the Estacada High Rangers (1-3 TVC, 6-11 overall). It marked the fifth straight win over the Rangers, overlapping the past three seasons.

The Riverhawks had six players who scored, led by Sydney Newby (18 points), Bryce Newby (11) and Johnston (10).

The Riverhawks, who are in second place in the six-team standings, were seeking a fourth straight win Feb. 4 at home versus the Molalla High Indians (2-2 TVC, 9-8 overall). The Riverhawks play Thursday in a league showdown for first place versus visiting Crook County. The Cowgirls won an earlier matchup between the two rivals, 32-30, Jan. 21 in Prineville.
