WASCO CO. — The No. 18-ranked South Wasco County High Redsides extended their Big Sky League win streak to eight after winning two road matches last week.
The Redsides (8-0 league, 17-7 overall) won 3-0 over the Horizon Christian High Hawks (0-10 league, 1-20 overall) on Oct. 1 in Hood River, followed by a 3-0 win over the Lyle/Wishram High Cougars (2-7 league, 2-9 overall) on Oct. 3 at Lyle High School.
In their victory at Horizon, Bailey Udey (nine kills), Macy Bell (six kills, five digs), Hailee Pechanec (six kills) and Jayda Iverson (four kills) helped lead the offense. In the victory at Lyle, Udey (10 kills), Bell (nine kills), Iverson (seven kills, six digs) and Pechanec (five kills, five digs) again led the way.
The Redsides won one of three matches at a tournament Oct. 5 at Damascus Christian. The Redsides won 2-0 over Damascus Christian and lost 2-0 to both Umpqua Valley and Prairie City.
Rangers win fourth straight
Dufur won three matches last week, extending its win streak to four to take over second place in the Big Sky West standings, behind South Wasco. The Rangers won at home, 3-0, over the Glenwood/Trout Lake/Klickitat High Eagles (3-6 league, 4-11 overall) Oct. 1 at Dufur High School. Â
The Rangers competed Oct. 5 at Lyle High School, where they beat Sherman, 3-2, and Wheeler County, 3-2.
Klickwood remained in third place in the Big Sky West with a 3-1 win at Horizon Christian on Oct. 3. Klickwood lost on Oct. 5 at Arlington.
In Big Sky East matches, Sherman won one out of three matches last week to solidify their third-place position. The Huskies lost on the road, 3-0, at Ione, and beat Lyle, followed by the loss to Dufur.
