HOOD RIVER — Hood River Valley’s girls swimming team won two more Northwest Oregon Conference meet Jan. 24 at North Clackamas Aquatic Park.

As they have in all but one other dual this season, the HRV girls swept the three relays. The 200-yard medley relay team of Delaney Hackett, Kylin Elliott, Maya Arndt, and Ava Giordano won by more than 10 seconds in two minutes, 10.91 seconds. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Sophia Helleberg, Elliott, Hackett, and Sophia Cross won in 1:59.51. And the 400-yard free relay team of Giordano, Helleberg, Arndt, and Cross, Sophia won in 4:24.73. HRV’s No. 2 team of Isabel Ulland, Olivia Riek, Tess Marsden, and Skyla Hollowell was second in 4:50.91.
HRV won all but two individual races. Cross and Arndt finished 1-2 in the 200 free (2:15.84 and 2:25.59). Helleberg, Elliott and Leah Sandoval went 1-2-3 in the 200 individual medley (2:39.36, 2:48.58, and 2:53.33). Giordano, Marsden, and Riek were 2-3-4 behind Hillsboro senior Charlie Smith in the 50 free. Hackett and Hollowell were first and second in the 100 butterfly (1:15.92 and 1:16.42).
Cross won her second race, the 100 free in 1:00.06 over teammates Giordano (1:03.35) and Riek (1:14.5). Hillsboro’s Smith won the 500 free, as HRV’s Arndt was second. Helleberg and Hackett finished 1-2 in the 100 backstroke (1:12.36 and 1:13.97). In the final individual race, Elliott, Ulland, and Hollowell added a 1-2-3 sweep (1:21.92, 1:25.63, 1:27.5).
The Hood River boys team finished second to a young, but talented Hillsboro team, 120 to 87; Milwaukie was third with six points. HRV won one relay, the 400 freestyle, and two individual events – both by Felipe Mendez.
The winning 400 relay included Mendez, Logan Griffith, Charlie Marcotte, and Kane Wagner in 4:07.30. Mendez’s wins came in the 200 free (2:06.47) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.65).
Hood River’s Max Webster, Mendez, Liam McGeeney, and Francisco Solberg swam to second behind Hillsboro in the 200 free relay; Solberg, Moshe Tsypin, Webster, and McGeeney were second in the 200-medley relay in 2:02.37.
In individual events, McGeeney, Webster, and Wagner were 2-3-4 in the 50 free (26.37, 26.4, 26.69). McGeeney and Marcotte were 2-3 in the 100 butterfly (1:07.33 and 1:09.31). Wagner, Solberg and Griffith were 2-3-4 in the 100 freestyle behind Hillsboro’s Jettarin Loveless, who won in 57.17 ; Wager and Solberg were two seconds back. Webster and Solberg were second and third in the 100 backstroke in 1:14.97 and 1:17.44.
