Eagles win girls soccer opener

A win this week will tie the Eagles’ win total from a season ago.

Against Century, HRV took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute when junior midfielder Hazel Haspela scored off an assist from junior midfielder Keira Brennan. Four minutes later, junior midfielder Magnolia Clermont scored on a penalty kick for a 2-0 advantage. Clermont then had an assist in the 38th minute on HRV’s third goal that was scored by freshman forward Josie Faaborg.

After Century tied the match, Brennan scored the game-winning goal in the 61st minute on a direct free kick from right outside the 18-yard box. The Eagles had 10 shots on goal; HRV senior goalkeeper Grace Rowan had five saves.
