HOOD RIVER — Hood River Valley sophomore Wyeth Droege had a 3-for-3 day on April 17, with three personal bests during a dual track and field meet against visiting Milwaukie and Horizon Christian.
Droege was second in the high jump with a PR clearance of 5 feet, 10 inches; was second in the 110 meter hurdles in a PR 16.75 seconds; and second in the long jump at 18-7. Droege also ran a leg on HRV’s 4x400 relay (along with Matt Trickey, Solomon Parson, and Jacob Smith) which posted the fastest time of the day at 3:38.36.
Smith added a win in the 100 meters, leading a 1-2-4 HRV finish in 11.49, ahead of runner-up Trickey (11.65 PR), and Parson (11.97). Parson, Trickey, Brycen Tuttle and Colin Gerald won the 4x100 in 45.63. Tuttle continued to improve in the sprints with his PR marks of 24.92 (200) and 11.99 (100).
Other HRV wins on the boys side came from Francisco Solberg (13-0 pole vault); Jack Miller in the javelin (153-1) and shot put (PR 43-11.5), and Kai Wagner in the 3000. Miller and teammate Omar Sedano (43-2.5) are now ranked 2-3 in the Northwest Oregon Conference (NWOC) in the shot.
The HRV girls were led by senior Sylvaine Farr’s 10-3 personal record in the pole vault, and freshman Lilah Tactay’s two-PR day: 14-2.5 long jump and 5-0 high jump. Farr’s pole vault best in ranked No. 2 in the NWOC through April 19, as is Tactay’s high jump best. Senior thrower Hailey Harjo added a PR in the shot put at 30-4.
On the track, Hood River was led by freshman Savina Davis, who won the 400 in a PR 1:01.4 while frosh teammate Georgiania Williams was second at 1:02.38. Williams won the 200 and teammates Camila Luna and Keira Brennan went 1-2 in the 100 in PRs of 13.35 and 13.81. Junior Syl Perrin went 5:07.13 to win the 1500.
HRV returns to competition April 23 in a NWOC meet at Hillsboro against the host Spartans and Parkrose.
