With the arrest on the streets of this city last night of Willard Quinn and Roscoe Wilson, the leaders of a ring of horse and cattle rustlers and moonshiners in Wasco county, who have been operating under cover for the past three years, are safely behind bars, it is alleged by the Wasco county authorities.
The arrest was made by Clarence Dunsmore, city police officer, accompanied by J. H. Skelley and G. L. Coleman, for Sheriff Levi Chrisman.
While Sheriff Chrisman and a large posse of farmers of Boyd and Dufur were combing the hills and canyons for a trace of evidence in cattle rustling, and for a still which they believed to be hidden somewhere in the clefts of the rocks along the Deschutes river, local police officers and deputies were searching Mosier and The Dalles for Quinn and Wilson.
No attempt at resistance was made by either of the suspects although the police and deputies were heavily armed in anticipation of a battle. — The Dalles Daily Chronicle, May 15, 1924
