Foodie fanatics around the state of Oregon and beyond will now be able to connect eating with Travel Oregon’s “The 7 Wonders of Oregon” campaign through the tourism commission’s new Passport to Bounty feature.
The campaign highlights two Hood River favorites, Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom and Camp 1805 Distillery & Bar, as well as Sunshine Mill Winery in The Dalles.
Catering to culinary explorers, Travel Oregon’s Passport to Bounty, which is live September through Nov. 30, allows consumers to pick up their own passport that features three top epicurean destinations in each of the seven wonders, including Mt. Hood, the Oregon Coast, Crater Lake, The Wallowas, Smith Rock, Painted Hills, and the Columbia River Gorge.
“We are so excited to be a part of the 2015 Travel Oregon Passport to Bounty with our own Sunshine Mill Winery,” said Lisa Farquharson, president and CEO of The Dalles Chamber of Commerce. “We can’t think of a better way to show off our awesome community of The Dalles, and look forward to sharing our story and community with all the participants.”
The Sunshine Mill, formerly a flour mill for Nabisco competitor Sunshine Biscuit Co., is home to Quenett and Copa Di Vino wineries.
Each Passport to Bounty food spot was chosen by seven of Oregon’s favorite chefs. Chef Paul Decarli, a longtime Oregonian, selected the three Gorge establishments for the campaign. Decarli owns Decarli Restaurant in Beaverton with his wife Jana.
The Bounty Passport, which is free to all, will be available to order on TravelOregon.com, at highlighted passport locations and chefs’ restaurants, Oregon welcome centers, and at FEAST Portland – the flagship food and drink festival of the Pacific Northwest, taking place September 17-20.
Stickers provided in each passport are used to mark off each destination visited. Participants are encouraged to share their bounty experiences on social media with the hashtag “#traveloregon.”
Passport carriers can also enter for a chance to win one of 50 special Bounty-branded growlers through a sweepstakes that will live on TravelOregon.com.
