Rasmussen Farms serves up ‘Salsa Sizzle,’ corn maze preview Sept. 7-8

The huge u-pick gardens at Rasmussens are rich with the best ingredients for salsa. Find big, juicy slicing-style tomatoes, meaty Roma-style tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes — and a plethora of peppers. Choose your favorites, from thick-walled green peppers to spicy-hot jalapenos. The u-pick gardens are planted with a wide variety of sweet and hot peppers.

No time to pick? A selection of ready-picked choices will be available in the sales barn, too, along with other popular salsa ingredients. For inspiration, find a good selection of tasty salsas to try; Hood River is home to some outstanding salsa makers.

Salsa Sizzle will also feature entertainment: The talented young Project P.M. Dancers from Mid Valley Elementary School will perform Mexican folk dances and more both afternoons. There will be additional live music Saturday afternoon.

Rasmussen Farms is known for autumn attractions, including the popular Corn Maze, which is open during the Salsa Sizzle celebration. Rasmussen’s Corn Maze is noted throughout the region for its tall stalks and gorgeous scenic setting. Getting “lost” in it is fun for all ages.

This year’s theme is “The Wizard of Oz.” Find fun and creative tableaus of the adventures of Dorothy and her friends in that strange and magical land among the twists and turns of the elaborate maze.

Admission to Salsa Sizzle and the Corn Maze is free.

Rasmussen Farms is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no charge for admission or parking. Attendees are asked to please leave pets at home.
