Hood River’s two newest cideries will be among those pouring Saturday at the third annual Hood River Hard-Pressed Cider Fest in Odell.
Slopeswell Cider Co., located on the Heights, will bring its fresh wares along with Crush Cider Café, located on Wasco Avenue. Crush opened in June 2015, while Slopeswell began serving its cider last month.
Crush, with its “Mutt” and Slopeswell, with its “Scrumpy,” are just two the more than 20 cideries from around the Pacific Northwest bringing imaginatively named ciders made from apples, pears, cherries, and other fruit, many of them imbued with the unofficial vegetable of Oregon, hops.
All told, look for more than 40 ciders on tap.
To accompany the ciders, Hard Pressed festival-goers can dig into offerings from the area’s vibrant food scene, including Apple Valley BBQ, Leah’s Lunch, and Solstice Wood Fire Café. The daylong event also features a lineup of local music, from an old-time string band to honky-tonk country and rock, and a kids’ area, complete with a bouncy house.
