MID VALLEY NEWS: Holiday note cards on sale now at Mid Valley

Hood River County School District Supt. Dan Goldman will host a “listening session” at Mid Valley Elementary School Oct. 24. The first session, in Spanish, begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a session in English at 7 p.m. Parents are invited to come and share thoughts on the future of the district.

The Mid Valley PTO will host its sixth-annual Harvest Hustle fun run Oct. 26. A free kids run with Principal Dennis McCauley will begin at 9 a.m., and both the 5K and 10K walk/run will start at 9:30 a.m. Registration is $10 in advance or $15 day-of. Registration forms are available at the school, or by email at mikka.irusta@hoodriver.k12.or.us.

The Hood River Sportsman’s Club will hold its annual Turkey Shoot on Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. until dark. Local businesses are asked to donate raffle prizes; for more information, call the club’s main line at 541-386-4477.

Raffle prizes and spatterboards are already being sold; again, call the club’s main line to purchase. The Hood River Sportsman Club is located on Tucker Road at the Tucker Bridge.

Mid Valley Elementary students have been designing unique artwork for the school’s annual note card fundraiser. Students have already taken order forms home for parents, which are due back Oct. 23. A box of cards is $14.95, with a portion of each sale going to the school.

The PTO will purchase extra sets of assorted cards, which will be available in late November to anyone wishing to support the school and its young artists. To order, call Peggy Dills Kelter at 541-354-1691.

Wy’east Middle School’s Spirit Week is scheduled for next week, and lots of great activities are scheduled, including fun dress-up themes, says school representative Teri Adams. To end the week, the annual Fall Dance, sponsored by WEB Leaders, will be held that Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and parent volunteers are needed, Call the school at 541-354-1548 to help.

Adams reports that the school’s recent Parent Conferences were well attended.

“Thanks to all the Wy’east parents who turned out,” she says. “It’s great to see families coming to spend time with teachers to discuss their student’s progress and to be the third-leg in the academic support stool that gets our kids meeting state benchmarks, and to that high school diploma!”

The end of the First Quarter is Nov. 1. Report cards will be mailed home the following week, says Adams.
