Oregon Hunters Association State Board Chairman Fred Walasavage of Mosier, right, accepts an OHA state-level Special Recognition Award from OHA Field Director Bryan Cook at the organization’s recent Chapter Leadership Summit.
Fred Walasavage of Mosier, chairman of the Oregon Hunters Association (OHA) state board of directors, has received a Special Recognition Award from the organization.
“Fred has led OHA’s state board to become the most effective it has ever been in tackling a wide array of important issues,” said OHA state coordinator Duane Dungannon.
“His leadership was key in developing a strategic plan and updated mission statement. His vision inspired the confidence of OHA chapters to financially support OHA’s new half-time position addressing Oregon’s land resources.”
OHA announced the organization’s annual statewide awards at its Chapter Leadership Summit this month at Diamond Lake Resort. Chapters and OHA state board members nominate and vote.
“OHA’s annual state-level awards are quite an honor for the recipients, because they were selected from an organization of 10,000 members and 26 active chapters,” said Dungannon.
“But it’s a just a small token of appreciation for those who invest so much of themselves for what they believe in and care about,” he added.
OHA volunteers annually tally more than 25,000 hours of service.
OHA is the state’s largest Oregon-based pro-hunting organization, with 10,000 members and 26 chapters statewide.
Its mission is, “Protecting Oregon’s wildlife, habitat and hunting heritage.”
