With Cherry Festival activities moving from Fourth Street to First Street this year, the home and lifestyle show, anchored at the Civic Auditorium, will now have vendors on Fourth Street.
The Bi-Coastal Media/Guild Mortgage Co. Home and Lifestyle Show — which, now in its 35th year, is nearly as old as the Cherry Festival itself — will have 50 vendors on both floors of the Civic, said Rick Cavagnaro, Bi-Coastal Media sales manager.
And outdoors on Fourth Street in front of the Civic they will have ATVs on display, a huge mattress sale, vehicles, and outdoor equipment, among other things.
The goal is to achieve an attractive balance of vendors that will provide items of interest to the public. Vendors change regularly, which keeps the show updated and interesting, Cavagnaro said.
Doors open for the event Friday, April 24, at 5 p.m. and continues Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is free. This year, the event is also hosting the nationally recognized Taste of Home Cooking School. There will be two one-hour shows, Friday at 6 p.m. with a repeat Saturday at 4 p.m. Cost for the school is $10 and the events will be held in the theater at the Civic. The show features Kristi Larson, a culinary expert from Taste of Home. She will be demonstrating a number of recipes and sharing tips and prizes with the participants. Tickets are available at brownpapertickets.com.
This home show is more laid-back than the big city shows, Cavagnaro said. Vendors love it because it’s so “quaint,” he said.
Along with high-end pots and pans and eco-friendly products, there will be home improvement and remodeling ideas and appliances. There’s also jewelry, makeup, satellite services, trailers, gutters, windows, wine sampling and the latest in wireless communications.
Decking options will be on hand, along with cabinets and counter tops. Heating and air conditioning units will also be on display.
“Mortgage and home finance experts will be there to help make your projects a reality as well as real estate professionals,” a press release stated.
“You may be able to plan your entire home project under one roof with our area experts,” the release stated.
“Many exhibitors will be featuring free drawings for prizes and raffles in their booths and special pricing only available during the show.
Live broadcasts with exhibitor information will take place all three days on 93.5 KACI FM, with updates on KCGB 105.5 and 96.9 and 92.7, KMSW. Broadcasts will include interviews with exhibitors and attendees.
“The Civic will be the busiest place in town during Cherry Festival,” said KACI FM morning show host Randy Haines.
Watercolor artist Mary Rollins will have her prints available and her husband, Dale Rollins, who helps run the Lion’s Club’s eyeglass collection program, may even have a booth to collect eyeglasses and even do vision tests if the equipment can be lined up.”
Cavagnaro also quipped, “The Naked Winery girls will be here. How can we miss? Naked girls at a home show.”
They’re actually clothed, of course, he said, but “their personalities are off the charts. They’re an absolute treat to have at the show.”
