Goldendale's Richard Flynn wants to build a time machine. He wants to go back to Oct. 30, 1938 - 80 years ago this October when radio was the hot new thing and millions listened to it daily. And on the evening of that date, one radio broadcast terrorized much of the country.
Events are taking off quite a bit faster than first anticipated for the new Hispanic radio show in town, “La Onda Latina del Gorge,” or “Latin Wave of the Gorge.” The show’s first “recorded live” segment will air this Sunday, July 9, with the broadcast starting at 6 p.m.
To the editor: For evening viewers of network news who are fed up with the national media’s agenda to treacherously trounce, traduce, trash and trample Trump for the first 15 minutes of the broadcast — simply turn off the sound and don’t try to read their lips. Look at it this way: Why participate? Whatever happened to pre-eminent programming and broadcasting brilliance? I guess it’s a lost art.
With most of the 400 copies of “The Age of Dignity” now out in the greater Gorge, the Aging in the Gorge Alliance (AGA) is gearing up for the second part of their book program: Discussion groups.
Since last April, drummer turned DJ Jeff Minnick has been broadcasting the classic country sounds of the 40s, 50s and 60s with his two-hour Tuesday night program The Countryside, live on the air and over the internet from 7-9 p.m.
The annual Bicoastal Media/Guild Mortgage Company Home and Lifestyle Show will open its doors Friday, April 25, at 5 p.m. at the Civic Auditorium. The show continues Saturday, April 26, and Sunday April 27.
