Saturday’s Original Courthouse Regional History Forum presentation has been changed.
Dave Wilson, who was scheduled to present a program about the Japanese community at the Mayerdale Estate, has cancelled and his presentation has not yet been rescheduled.
Local historian Nancy Zopf, whose presentation was scheduled for Feb. 28, will instead present her program this Saturday, Feb. 7, beginning at 1:30 p.m. upstairs in the 1859 courthouse.
Zopf has catalogued the many communities in our county that hosted, and sometimes were named after, local post offices.
She will trace postal history from “Wascopam” days to the present, and recount the ever-evolving means of delivering the mail.
Coffee and cookies will be served. The Original Wasco County Courthouse is located at 410 West Second Place, behind The Dalles Chamber of Commerce and visitor center.
Presentations begin at 1:30 p.m.
