The popular Gorge Fruit & Craft Fair arrives Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Hood River County Fairgrounds in Odell.
The Fruit & Craft Fair features arts and crafts, gourmet food products, fresh fruit and produce, baked goods, wine, jewelry, furniture, plants and flowers, soft goods, and much more --- all grown or crafted in the Gorge. The Hood River County Fair Board organizes the event.
Admission and parking are free.
The unique feature of the fair is that everything offered is grown or made in the four counties of the central Columbia Gorge—Hood River, Wasco, Skamania, and Klickitat.
In addition to the wide selection of products and creations offered by exhibitors, the 2013 Gorge Fruit & Craft Fair features a full slate of special activities.
The Odell Garden Club will hold its very popular annual autumn flower show and sale in the Floral Building throughout the weekend. The Hood River Art Club will present a gallery-style art show and sale. Find fresh local fruit. Try delicious Gorge wines. Savor great food, including tasty barbeque and traditionally-prepared Indian salmon dinners with delicious side dishes. Enjoy live music by the Gorge Strings Sunday afternoon. There will be seasonal fun and treats for kids, too.
Fruit & Craft Fair attendees will have a special opportunity on Saturday. Just steps away, at the fairgrounds arena, a Ranch Sorting competition will be taking place from late morning into the early afternoon. It’s a Western-style equestrian sport in which two riders work together—and against the clock—to cut the correct cattle from the herd and drive them into a pen. It’s fun to watch! Admission is free.
