The Oregon Office of Rural Health has organized the first-ever Forum on Aging in Rural Oregon, to be held in Hood River Thursday and Friday, April 20-21 at the Best Western Plus Hood River Inn.
Local residents have been involved in the planning, but the forum will feature regional and national speakers.
The event will provide a forum where people can gather to talk about their experiences, share new ideas, and get inspiration and resources to create their own successes.
The forum is intended for community members, family caregivers, elder care professionals, primary care givers, policy makers, philanthropists and anyone interested in making it easier for seniors to age in rural Oregon, according to a press release.
Sessions include how to fight ageism, rural palliative care and meeting behavioral health needs of older adults.
Personal slots have been filled, but there are still some professional (those in healthcare, social services or related sectors) and student (those currently enrolled in healthcare, social services or other related educational or training programs) slots available. A limited number of scholarships are also available. Register for the event at www.orh.webconnex.com/1st-aging-forum
