Celebrate the bounty of fall with music and dancing, food, wine and beer. On Oct. 24, the Underwood Community Council will host a local music, food, wine and beer event at the Underwood Community Center, 951 Schoolhouse Road in Underwood.
According to Council President Keith Fredrickson, the event “will help raise the awareness of the Underwood Community Center as a venue for all kinds of events.”
Headlining the event will be Underwood-based Gorge favorite Moe Dixon, fresh off the road from a successful tour of the southeastern United States, in a rare local appearance.
Michael Stillman's ensemble will open the show, and Tim Mayer and John Bryan will provide accoustic music accompaniment for the dinner hour.
Professional sound and PA system provided by Malcolm Brown, owner of Underwood-based Gorge Sound & Light.
Some of the best local produce is grown in Underwood. Freshly prepared meals using locally-sourced food will be available at the event prepared by Underwood Chef Bob Allen, long-time collaborator with Chef Ben Stenn of Celilo Restaurant. The Feast Food Truck from White Salmon will also be on hand serving an assortment of local and regional foods.
Underwood Mountain is developing a national reputation for Burgundy-style wines and two of our local wineries will be on hand. AniChe Cellars, the nationally-recognized and award-winning winery, will be serving their locally grown wines. White Salmon Vineyards, who produce Burgundy-style wines from their Underwood-based vineyards, will serve their highly-acclaimed Chardonnay, Merlot and Pinot Noir. And Double Mountain Brewery has generously donated a keg of IPA.
“With our outdoor barbecue shelter, kid's playground and huge athletic field, the Community Center Park is a great place for weddings, sporting and music events, parties, and community gatherings of all kinds,” said Fredrickson. “At the same time we can showcase some local Underwood and Gorge-based talent, and feature some locally sourced food, beer and wine.”
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door, exclusive of food and beverages, cash or checks only. Children under 12 free.
Food and beverages start at 5:30 p.m. and will continue to be served throughout the event. Acoustic music by Tim Mayer and John Bryan will accompany the dinner hour, with Michael Stillman's group starting the show and dance at 7 p.m., followed by Moe Dixon. Ticket sales will benefit the Underwood Community Center. All ages are welcome and everyone is invited.
