Amber Charms returns Sept. 6
On Saturday, Sept. 6, Scarlet Thistle Studio presents Amber Charms at the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River at 7:30 p.m. Showcasing a selection of award-winning performers and internationally acclaimed artists from the Pacific Northwest, and beyond, Amber Charms displays traditional and contemporary interpretations of the ancient art form known as belly dance. Featuring the area’s most exciting and innovative dancers, Amber Charms presents improvisational American Tribal Style, classic Oriental Dance, and Belly Dance Fusion.

Ruins open at Springhouse
Hood River's Springhouse Cellar continues its summer Ruins Tuesdays Concert Series. This popular weekly series features live music from top NW bands, local wines, beers and specialty food vendors. The events will be free and all-ages from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and then become 21 and over only after 7 p.m., with a $3 entrance fee. Attendees will be able to avoid the $3 entry fee by arriving before 7 p.m. In case of inclement weather, shows will move inside to the Back Room at Springhouse Cellar.

‘Endless Summer’ starts ‘Throwback’ film series
A special showing of the 1960s film “The Endless Summer” is happening on Aug. 19, 20, 21 at 8:30 p.m. at Skylight Theater. Director Bruce Brown’s film highlights the adventures of two young American surfers who explore the surfing scene in Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Hawaii and California. Admission is $10
The 50th-anniversary screening of Brown’s classic surfing film starts a series of special films at Andrew’s. “We’re calling it ‘Throwback Thursdays.’ We wanted to bring out some classic films that we think just look a lot better on the big screen and are a lot of fun,” owner Andrew McElderry said, adding that costumes and other embellishments are welcome.
Future films are: Sept. 18, “The Big Lebowski,”; Oct. 16, “Caddyshack,” and Nov. 20, “M*ASH” (check website for audience restrictions).
Secret Salsa welcomes Ari Levitt

Pacific Crest Trail Days Sept. 5-7
The annual Pacific Crest Trail Days will take place Sept. 5-7, on Thunder Island in Cascade Locks.
Pacific Crest Trail Days is a great time for people to learn about the latest outdoor products from event sponsors, participate in free classes, join a trail work party, see a photography slideshow by Outdoor Viewfinder, and watch the documentary movie “The Meaning of Wild.” The Pacific Crest Trail and other nearby trails offer access to some of the most beautiful scenery in the Pacific Northwest for hiking and biking, just a short walk from the event site.
The 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act falls on the week of the event, so there will be several activities that tie in to celebrate the anniversary.
Pacific Crest Trail Days is family-friendly and free to attend.
