At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, the City of Bingen celebrated the remodeled playground at Daubenspeck park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The park’s transformation includes a new play structure for small children, a merry-go-round and new swings that include an accessible swing, a parent/baby swing and a disk swing. For the larger play structure, outdated or nonfunctional components have been replaced. Additionally, four new picnic tables and six benches have been added.
Funding for the park’s improvements came from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Based on community feedback, Bingen’s elected officials prioritized outdoor recreational improvements at the park as a meaningful use of ARPA funds.
A press release from the City of Bingen thanked the public works team, Bingen Volunteer Fire Department, Insitu’s maintenance team and all of the volunteers who helped with the park remodel.
