The Dalles Friends of the Library — Annual book sale happens Saturday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Book Barn in the library’s upper parking lot, 722 Cort St., The Dalles. Prices are as follows: 9-10 a.m., $3 per bag; 10-11 a.m., $2 per bag; and 11 a.m. to noon $1 per bag. You pick the books. Sale helps support literacy.
Wasco County Master Gardeners — will present “Caring and Maintaining your Roses” at the Sorosis Park Rose Garden on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 9 a.m. This free talk is open to the public and will explain rose care. “Roses perform very well in Wasco County gardens and with a little assistance can be great additions to your garden,” said a press release. “Learn how to take better care of your roses.”
Northern Wasco County People’s Utility District — All five members of the Northern Wasco County People’s Utility District (NWCPUD) Board of Directors have achieved the Director Gold credential from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). “As the only Oregon PUD that is a member of NRECA, this remarkable accomplishment makes NWCPUD’s board members the only PUD board members in Oregon with this distinction. NWCPUD commends directors Daniel Hammel, Roger Howe, Wayne Jacobson, Greg Johnson, and Scott Taylor on this distinction,” said an agency press release.
