OREGON — Carla Mundt, volunteer coordinator with hosts at the Criterion School, reports nearly 1,800 visitors at its Open House during the duration of the 2025 Oregon State Fair.
Next summer, the 1912 Criterion School will be celebrating its 50th anniversary from being relocated south of Maupin to the Oregon State Fairgrounds.
The 2026 Oregon State Fair will be held Aug. 28 through Sept. 7. During that time, special commemorative events will be held at the school. In mid-July, interested hosts may contact OREA member Carla Mundt at mundtc@gmail.com to sign-up for a three-hour shift. Hosts receive passes for free parking and free admission.
The Oregon Retired Educators Association (OREA), led by the “Save the Criterion School Committee,” is actively pursuing additional financial help with the school’s ongoing upgrades. Much renovation has been done but more remains.
