Hand crews fight a fire in the Columbia River Gorge.

SKAMANIA CO. — Today, June 12, the Skamania County Sheriff's Office released an update on the two fires near Carson, Washington.

The 10-acre Grant Lake Fire has been approximately 50% "controlled." A fire is considered controlled when it's not only fully contained but also the fire has been burned out. Once a fire is controlled, there's little chance of the fire escaping the perimeter. However, areas may be monitored to prevent reignition.

A Level 2 (Be Set) Evacuation has been issued for the Carson area to Dog Creek Falls area. Specifically: In Carson all areas east of Carson Smith Beckon Rd, entire length north to south, and all the way east all the way to Dog Creek Falls area (Milepost 55).
