HOOD RIVER — Love Water? Love our Rivers, lakes and oceans? Love films that showcase all things paddling?
Columbia Center for the Arts (CCA) presents the 19th Annual International Paddling Film Festival Tour Aug. 28 at 6:30 pm. Tickets $15.
The tour presents the world’s best paddling films of the year — whitewater, sea kayaking, canoeing, SUP, action and lifestyle — in more than 120 cities and towns across Canada, the U.S. and the world.
From 29 inspiring paddling films shortlisted for the World Tour, CCA chose eight to 10 films to showcase, including the best of 2024’s festival winners. They include hairy whitewater action, sea kayakers exploring remote coastlines, international river travel films and motivating environmental documentaries.
Two were produced by local filmmakers Todd Wells and Rush Sturges. Wells will attend to introduce his film, “Coastal Mountain Chronicles: The Bishop River” and for a Q&A period afterward. Students featured in Rush Sturges’ film, “Paddle Tribal II: Bring the Salmon Home,” will attend to discuss their film and adventure project paddling the Klamath River from origin to sea.
Paddlers, lovers of our rivers and waters and all outdoor enthusiasts can expect a fun social event inspired by compelling films. Raffle items are available for purchase, with winners picked after the film screenings.
