THE GORGE — OSU Hood River Extension Central Gorge Master Gardeners welcome home gardeners of all abilities to attend the upcoming Garden Gathering series of educational presentations. These free presentations will be held monthly through October and are designed to be interactive and aid in your growth as a gardener.
The Garden Gathering series continues with Skamania County Weed Specialist Emily Stevenson, who will present a workshop on weed prevention methods and controlling invasive weeds.
Topics to be covered in this workshop include:
What is a weed and how do you know if it’s noxious?
Effective ways to control broadleaf weeds.
Identification of weeds and selecting the appropriate control methods.
How to prevent weeds from spreading.
Stevenson is a Skamania County Weed Specialist with 18 years of experience. “Identifying the weed that you’re trying to eradicate is the first step in the process of gaining control,” she said.
This workshop is designed to teach you what you need to know to be a weed warrior. Two sessions of the Garden Gathering Weed Management presentation will be held at different times and locations. The same information will be offered at each session.
Saturday June 8, 10-11:30 a.m. at the Learning Garden, 2990 Experiment Station Road, Hood River
Tuesday, June 11, 6:30-8 p.m. at the White Salmon Library, 77 NE Wauna Ave., White Salmon.
