THE DALLES — A fire near Northern Oregon Regional Corrections facilities has evacuated all of Bargeway Road and part of River Road this evening.
The fire was reported by 911 callers this evening, Wasco County Sheriff’s Office announced.
The fire appeared to be burning in or near some storage units and in some trees west of NORCOR, with burning embers in trees, shrubs and grass to the east, said photographer Gary Elkinton, when he captured this shot a of a helicopter which was dispatched to douse the flames.
Elkinton watched a helicopter assist the fire department get the blaze under control.

Evacuations stretch from 2649 River Road, all of Bargeway Road and W. First Street from its intersection with River Road to its intersection with Bargeway Road.
