Drugs seized, one arrest in The Dalles

In the search, law enforcement seized 143 grams of suspected cocaine and pharmaceutical pills, and $101,756 in suspected drug proceeds. A handgun and rifle were also seized; the rifle had been reported stolen from central Oregon.

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old The Dalles resident was arrested on the following charges:

Unlawful delivery of cocaine in substantial quantity; unlawful possession of cocaine; unlawful possession of Oxycodone; unlawful posesssion of Hydrocodone; tampering with drug records; theft in the first degree; and unlawful possession of firearms.

They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. They are currently held at Northern Oregon Regional Corrections.

This marks the first case since the Mi-Columbia Narcotics Task Force (MINT) restarted in a limited capacity.

This team of detectives has been inactive for a number of years. It’s dedicated to “fighting drugs and associated criminal behavior in the Mid-Columbia region,” according to a press release. Its members work as police administrators to “build capacity, training, equipment and expertise.”

Wasco County District Attorney’s Office collaborated in overseeing the case and preparing the search warrant.

“This case demonstrates the ongoing need for dedicated drug enforcement in our communities. I look forward to collaboration with our partners and expanding this effort,” said Wasco County Sheriff Lane Magill.

“I’m happy to see the safe conclusion of this significant case. It highlights the value of working together and removing guns and drugs from our community,” said The Dalles Police Chief Tom Worthy.
