MOSIER — On July 30, the Central Cascades Interagency Management Team issued a daily update on the Microwave Tower Fire and said it was 'human caused,' but that was a misprint according to officials.Â
The Hood River Valley High School has served as the incident command center for both the Whisky Creek and Microwave Tower Fires and information was copied over from the Whisky Creek update that did not align with the Microwave Tower Fire.
Fire officials issued an apology, and said they are in the process of moving headquarters up to the Hood River County Fairgrounds.
July 30 Update:
The Central Cascades Interagency Management Team took command July 29 and crews made "excellent progress in building and securing lines." Crews mopped up the western edge of the fire line while on the northeastern side firefighters were able to build direct line to Interstate 84. Drivers are asked to please use caution on Interstate 84 as firefighters and aircraft are still working in the area. Planes and helicopters continue to provide assistance from the air.
For public and firefighter safety, The Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail is closed from Mosier to Hood River, including the East and West Hatfield Trailheads. Hood River County also has closures in effect for the fire area for public and firefighter safety. Details of these closures are available on their websites: https://www.hoodrivercounty.gov/closures and https://stateparks.oregon.gov/.
