A treasured city park in White Salmon has been desecrated by vandals. A series of ominous symbols were recently painted on structures at the park on lower Spring Street.

The symbols include the number "666" and the "pentagram," a five-pointed star within a circle. These symbols have been used in recent years by hate groups to intimidate blacks, gays, Jews, and other minorities. At least nine "666" symbols and five pentagrams were found painted on stone and wood structures in the park.
